Every price on MarketCare goes through a rigorous, multi-source research process. We never publish a price without at least medium confidence in its accuracy.
Direct Provider Calls
HighestWe call providers directly to verify cash-pay pricing, ask what's included (facility, anesthesia, pathology), and confirm any upfront-pay discounts. This is our gold standard.
Provider Websites
HighestClinics and surgery centers that publicly list cash-pay prices on their own websites. We prioritize these transparent providers and flag them in our listings.
CMS Price Transparency Files
HighHospitals are legally required to publish machine-readable pricing files under CMS rules. We extract cash/self-pay rates by CPT code from these mandated disclosures.
Zocdoc & Aggregator Listings
MediumWe cross-reference pricing data from healthcare aggregators like Zocdoc, including listed cash-pay rates and patient-reported costs.
Patient-Reported Prices
Low–MediumWe mine Reddit, Google Reviews, and social media for real patient-reported prices. These are valuable for price discovery but always need verification before publishing.
AI-Assisted Research
Medium (verified)We use AI tools to accelerate provider discovery and identify lesser-known clinics. AI-sourced data is never published without independent verification from another source.
Confidence Tiers
High — Price Verified
Confirmed by direct call or published on the provider's own website.
Medium — Estimated Price
Found in CMS transparency files or aggregator listings. Good estimate but may vary.
Low — Call to Confirm
Patient-reported or AI-researched. Useful for discovery but needs phone verification.
