Psoriasis is an autoimmune, noncontagious skin rash that leaves parts of the skin red, itchy and scaly. The flakes of skin seen in this skin disease are from an overproduction of skin cells. The areas of the skin affected most with psoriasis are the back of the elbows, the front of the knees, and the scalp. This is a chronic skin condition that can be seen at any age but most often begins in early adulthood.
